FAQ

This FAQ collects the most common MetaTrader 5 questions across installation, login, account access, mobile use and network conditions.
Each section addresses a specific issue group so that download entry, first login and terminal use remain easier to troubleshoot.
The answers focus on terminal behavior, account connection and access conditions rather than broker policy or investment decisions.

Download & installation

Common questions about terminal access paths, installation behavior and first-start issues.

Where do the download links go?
The download entries lead to release sources or installation instructions instead of storing installer files locally. This keeps the access path consistent and reduces the chance of modified or mismatched packages being distributed through secondary channels.
What if Windows blocks the download?
Browsers and security tools often treat executable files as higher-risk downloads by default. Check that the download source matches the expected release path, then review the browser warning, file details and certificate information before continuing. If SmartScreen appears on first start, confirm the source again before allowing the process to continue.
macOS says “can’t be opened” or “unidentified developer” — what should I do?
This usually means the device is applying its normal launch protection rules. Open the macOS security settings, review the blocked app notice and allow the start if the package source is the one you expected. Disk space, supported macOS version and launch permissions can also affect the first start.
Why is Linux handled differently?
Linux environments vary by distribution, runtime libraries, graphics stack and permission model. Because of that, setup is often handled through instructions rather than the same package path used on Windows or macOS. A guided setup path is usually more predictable than a one-size-fits-all package.
What is the difference between WebTerminal and desktop?
WebTerminal is suited to browser access when software installation is not practical. Desktop is better suited to longer sessions, chart-dense layouts, deeper terminal control and strategy-related work. They serve different access conditions rather than the same operating depth.
The app won’t open or closes immediately — what should I check?
Start with device compatibility, local storage, launch permissions and installation completeness. First-start behavior can also be affected by real-time protection tools, blocked write access, missing runtimes or device policy restrictions. Reinstalling from the correct source path is often the fastest way to rule out a damaged package.
How can I check whether an installer is trustworthy?
Use the expected release path, avoid mirrored files from unknown channels and review file properties after download. In stricter environments, domain verification, certificate review and checksum comparison can be used to confirm that the package matches the release source you intended to use.

Login & accounts

Questions about server selection, account access, symbol visibility and multi-account use.

Do I need a broker account to use it?
The terminal can be installed and opened without a broker account, but quotes, tradable symbols and account permissions appear only after login through a broker server. A demo account is usually the simplest way to learn the terminal before using a live account.
What if I don’t know the server name?
The server name is usually provided by the broker that issued the account. It may appear on the broker site, in account emails or in account-opening records. If several similar server names exist, choose the one that matches the exact account type and region associated with your credentials.
I can’t see symbols or quotes after login — what should I check?
Check connection status first, then confirm that the correct server was selected and that symbols are visible in Market Watch or the watchlist. Missing prices are often caused by account access limits, symbol visibility settings or an incomplete first sync rather than the login itself.
Can I use multiple accounts?
Yes. Multiple account profiles can usually be stored and switched inside the terminal. If several accounts need to remain active at the same time, separate instances or separate installation paths may be needed to avoid conflicts between settings, data folders and active sessions.
My password is correct, but login still fails — why?
Login failure is not always caused by the password itself. Common causes include selecting the wrong server, using the wrong account type, encountering network restrictions or entering credentials in a format that does not match the broker’s login method. Server, login and password should all be checked together.
How do I create a demo account and start practicing?
A demo account is intended for learning terminal behavior without using real funds. After choosing the demo-account path in the terminal, sign in, wait for quotes and symbol data to load, then practice order placement, stop settings, position management and history review before moving to a live account.

Mobile & APK

Questions about mobile installation paths, device permissions and mobile-specific access behavior.

Why is there a direct APK option for Android?
In some regions or device conditions, store access may be limited or delayed. APK distribution is used as an alternative access path in those cases. Because package-based installation carries additional source and permission checks, it should be handled more carefully than store-based installation.
How can I protect my account on mobile?
Mobile account safety depends on device protection, network quality and login habits. Use a lock screen, keep notification permissions under control, avoid sharing sensitive screenshots and do not perform first-time login on an untrusted network. If a package installation path was used, review and reduce extra permissions after installation.
Can mobile replace desktop?
Mobile is best suited to monitoring, alerts, quick checks and position handling away from the desk. Desktop remains better for denser chart work, longer sessions, multi-window use, strategy testing and deeper terminal control. WebTerminal sits between them as a browser-based access path.
iOS or Android can’t connect, or syncing is very slow — what should I do?
Check first whether the app can use Wi-Fi or cellular data without restriction. Then test another network, because enterprise Wi-Fi, campus networks and public hotspots often limit ports, domains or background connections. The first sync can take longer than later sessions, especially on unstable networks.
How do I add favorite symbols to the mobile watchlist?
Mobile terminals often begin with a simplified symbol list. Use search in Market Watch or the watchlist to add the symbols you need, enable more categories if available and confirm that the mobile terminal is logged into the same server and account type as any desktop terminal you are comparing against.

Network & security

Questions about connection failure, proxy settings and terminal access stability.

“No connection”, “connection failed” or “waiting for update” — what should I do?
These messages are usually tied to network conditions, blocked access paths or incomplete first sync. Check internet access, device time settings and whether firewalls, antivirus tools, enterprise rules or proxy layers are interfering with the connection. A second network is often the quickest way to isolate the cause.
How should I configure a proxy without causing login problems?
Use a proxy only when the network actually requires it. An unnecessary or unstable proxy can cause login timeouts, broken quote streams and repeated reconnect cycles. If a proxy must be used, confirm the protocol, authentication method and stability before relying on it for normal terminal access.
